The Death Note is a mysterious black book that used to belong to a Shinigami named Ryuk. In the year 2003, the Death Note finds its way into the hands to an extremely intelligent man name Light Yagami who thinks the world is full of corrupted and twisted people. He uses the notebook and writes the names of criminals killing numerous inmates. His actions soon becomes known by the people of the world and earns the name "Kira", but at the same time he catches the eye of another mentally gifted individual codenamed "L."
