Japan was turned into a battle ravaged area on August 10, 2010 as the Holy Empire of Britannia utilizes its formidable force of Knightmare Frames, extremely mobile bipedal war machines, to take over the country in less than a month. Japan eventually was taken under the autonomy of Britan and given the demeaning name of "Area 11." Japanese people for that matter were refered to as "Elevens." The struggle of Japanese people to take revenge against Britain grows, the story takes an unexpected turn when prince Lelouche's mother is killed in an assassination.
